Our satin post and handrail glass balustrade system is the 316 marine-grade version of our classic posts-plus-continuous-handrail configuration: brushed 42.4mm stainless steel posts and rail with 10mm toughened glass between them. Because the satin system's steel is uncoated 316, the metal itself is the corrosion barrier — making this the specification of choice for coastal properties, exposed terraces and poolside balustrades.
Everything else matches our black post and handrail system: 978mm posts with rail saddles slotting into the tops, a finished height of 1100mm to the top of the handrail, glass clamps pre-fitted (two on end posts, four on mid and corner posts, none on blank posts for stepped ground), maximum post spacing of 1150mm, and 10mm toughened glass cut to order. The black version is 304 steel with a protective powder coating — this satin version steps up to bare 316.
Glass is made to order — around 3–4 weeks for custom sizes, 3–10 days stocked — and base plate bolts are supplied separately to suit your substrate. Send your run measurements through the quote form or call 01282 526428 and we'll plan the post types and panel layout for you.

The satin version uses uncoated 316 marine-grade stainless steel — the metal itself resists corrosion, which makes it the pick for coastal, poolside and heavily exposed sites. The black version is 304 steel protected by its powder coating, which suits most gardens and terraces. If you're within salt-air reach of the coast, satin 316 is the safer long-term choice.
Both versions are designed for outdoor UK use, so inland the choice is mostly aesthetic — brushed steel versus matt black. 316's extra corrosion resistance earns its keep where salt, chlorine or heavy exposure are in play.
Warm soapy water and a soft cloth, wiping along the grain, a few times a year — more often with a fresh-water rinse in coastal spots to clear salt deposits. Avoid abrasive pads and harsh chemicals.
Identical: 42.4mm posts at up to 1150mm spacing, a continuous 42.4mm handrail sitting in saddles in the post tops, 10mm toughened glass, and a 1100mm finished height. End, mid, corner and blank posts work exactly the same way, so you can even mix planning advice between the two finishes.
They're built differently. This Post & Handrail system uses 978mm posts with saddles and a continuous 42.4mm stainless handrail tube on top, reaching an 1100mm finished height with 900mm glass panels — the easy-to-grip rail makes it the pick for stairs and high-traffic areas. The Semi-Frameless system uses 1100mm posts with the glass running level to the post tops — a glass-led look finished with post caps, no tube. In both, black components are 304 powder-coated stainless steel and satin components are 316 marine grade, and both are designed in line with BS 6180:2011.
